CHALLENGE
Contribute to forest conservation and the socio-productive inclusion of local Amazonian communities by establishing connections between community enterprises and startups. The project aims to boost the development of bioeconomic production chains, generate income and social inclusion while promoting forest conservation.
DEVELOPMENT
A methodology was devised for bringing startups and community businesses closer together, which included the pre-selection of 40 startups by the CERTI Foundation, from the portfolio of the Jornada Amazônia’s Sinergia program. Of these, 10 were chosen to take part in the pilot cycle, along with 10 Community Businesses. Through training and the exchange of experiences, the participants were prepared for the face-to-face phase of the project, which took place in two immersions in the territories of Baixo Tapajós and Baixo Tocantins in the state of Pará.
RESULT
- Mechanism for inducing innovative solutions: a structure for connecting startups and community businesses, facilitating exchanges between them.
- Solution implemented: a solution for segregating and reusing solid waste was implemented in a community business.
- The program has contributed to the conservation of the Amazon rainforest, the socio-productive inclusion of local communities and the sustainable development of the region.
The project is funded by GIZ, a German technical cooperation organization for the promotion of sustainable development, and implemented by the CERTI Foundation and Conexsus.
