CHALLENGE
Soprano Materiais Elétricos (SME) was looking to improve its manufacturing and industrial automation processes to meet growing market demand and stand out in the Industry 4.0 era. The challenge was to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation in its plant, create a technological roadmap for 4.0 technology applications and develop a proof of concept (PoC).
DEVELOPMENT
The activities began with an on-site mapping at the company’s facilities, where technologies with potential for application at the SME plant were identified. An analysis of innovation guidelines and strategies was then carried out with the company’s senior management, taking into account factors such as technical feasibility and business impact. To carry out the project, production cells were set up at CERTI’s LabFaber facilities, where the concepts developed were tested and validated.
RESULT
- Construction of a technological roadmap for SME, chronologically addressing the transforming technologies that will make it possible to bring about change from the Current State (As-Is) to the Future State (To-Be) in the context of 4.0 applications.
- PoC: Concept of automating the assembly of electrical switches, with longer cycle times but lower CAPEX, to help with the production growth curve during the transition from assembly to automation.
