Florianópolis expands IoT coverage

The coverage of The Things Network (TTN), a communications network for the Internet of Things (IoT), has been extended in Florianópolis with the addition of two gateways by the Certi Foundation. The network, which has been operating in the city since 2016, now has five points, including UFSC and Morro da Cruz. Using the LoRa standard, the technology offers long-distance wireless communication and low power consumption, making it ideal for IoT applications with small-scale data traffic.

TTN, founded in the Netherlands in 2015, has seen a significant increase in developers and gateways globally. Certi’s entry into the TTN is seen as an essential stimulus to boost the region’s development in IoT, providing an open, secure and large-scale network. Certi, also a member of the TTN Florianópolis Core Team, aims to train the community and collaborate to expand the coverage area and promote continuous improvements to the network.
