CHALLENGE
Develop and test computer vision solutions for monitoring electrical substations.
DEVELOPMENT
The project had two lines of work. The first line generated prototypes of intelligent cameras to carry out thermographic inspections of equipment and detect intruders in specific locations. The second line explored the use of UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) with adaptive trajectories, controlled by the processing of thermographic images captured by on-board cameras. After validation by COPEL’s automation department, six intelligent cameras were installed in one of the company’s substations and connected to the supervisory system via DNP3.
RESULT
Three cameras were assigned to carry out thermal inspections on circuit breakers, while the other three were dedicated to detecting and qualifying intruders. Testing of the solution using UAVs was conducted in a relevant environment, demonstrating the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed concept.
