CHALLENGE

The FÊNIX/FOXCONN Company requested the drafting of a strategic plan to develop technological solutions applicable to its production sector. The goal was to reach a new level in the realm of innovation technologies for production processes, enabling their optimization with quality and productivity gains, and keeping its production environment technologically up-to-date. This plan was supported by Industry 4.0 initiatives, which propose new solutions for the traditional challenges of the factory floor.

DEVELOPMENT

The project developed the following activities:

• Review of requirements and application of the 6M tool: comprising the mapping and characterization of the critical processes that influence aspects of manufacturing deadlines, costs, quality and productivity by applying the 6M tool, which allowed making a general evaluation of the six areas: Manpower, Method, Machine, Material, Milieu and Measurement. This evaluation served as a basis for the study of the technological principles applicable to the different areas of the company.
• Preparation of a technological roadmap. Using the results generated by the 6M tool, a study was conducted of the technologies applicable to the production environment and a technological roadmap was created in line with the client’s strategic business plan.
• After building the technological roadmap, a robotic solution for the automated insertion of labels onto circuit boards on the pallet was prioritized, developed and integrated into the production line.

RESULT

The main result of the project was the development of a technological roadmap applicable to FÊNIX’s production processes. Studies, analyses, data surveys and client interactions were conducted as part of the creation of this document, which will serve as a basis for the company to define and prioritize its research and development investments in coming years.

The project also stands out as a pioneer in the application of the diagnostic tool and road map, which later resulted in several other similar cases.
