To administrate innovative projects the CERTI Foundation has a system for developing solutions (SDS) that is based on a methodology developed in the United States at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology – MIT (web.mit.edu). The projects can have different applications, such as the development of products, hardware, software, systems or processes. However, to achieve good results with research, development and innovation projects, a disciplined and a systematic approach is necessary.
The development of a project from start-to-finish can be divided into five major phases, starting with the analysis of an opportunity, with the realization of strategic analysis of the business, to the validation of the solution after the
implementation of the project or its pilot. Thus, business and technology are united as unique components of the innovative process. Between each of the phases we define stages for critical analysis and decision-making, thus reducing risks in the innovation process. These stages of passage from one phase to another take place in the form of workshops involving the project’s main stakeholders.
CERTI, in addition to relying upon its staff’s extensive experience in generating solutions in electronics, has strategic partnerships in Brazil and abroad in the format of an R&D technology consortium for the creation of innovative solutions.
A product can be defined as a good developed into the form of a prototype or a final product, which combines all of the technical, functional and design characteristics that, when put into operation, allow the client to see the results before the product is released in the market.
CERTI uses its multidisciplinary and specialized structure to offer clients complete development solutions in a number of technological fields, including: machinery, electronics, systems, applications, embedded software, system and device integration, advanced manufacturing and pilot production (for production analysis).

A hardware project consists of an initial concept, survey of requirements and options, component specification, preparation of electronic schematics, layout design, prototyping and prototype assembly, testing, verification and validation. The CERTI Foundation is able to develop analog and microprocessed electronic projects and products for many fields, including: electronics for lighting, automation and control of machines and processes, embedded electronics for electromedical devices, data acquisition and conditioning, telemetry, consumer electronics, precision agriculture, and many others.
Hardware projects consider advanced production methods and technologies such as: lean manufacturing, supply chain management, eco-design tools, cost management systems, flexible production systems, management of indicators, engineering and analysis, and mainly good manufacturing practices, assembly and integration using DfX tools (Design for Excellence).
CERTI, through the LABfaber laboratory, offers the marketplace a differentiated circuit board manufacture service. Most companies face great difficulties in planning, purchasing and management of materials, due to short product lifecycles and fluctuation in component costs. By carrying out assembly with CERTI’s partner Produza, products can be placed on the market quickly – reducing time-to-market – and great advantages are gained using new and lower cost production technologies.
CERTI uses software development methodologies based upon agile practices that result in increased delivery quality, greater process visibility, better time-to-market, flexibility, cost reduction and increased satisfaction of the end user – who actively participates in the entire process to construct a solution, steering and prioritizing functionalities. This participation facilitates the alignment of results with initial requirements.
The institution has teams specialized in the development of software for embedded systems, and integrated with products in different fields of application, and focused on code robustness and efficiency. CERTI, with its broad experience in the development and coordination of distributed software teams, is able to coordinate complex projects, involving teams from different institutions and companies, in Brazil and abroad.
Aspects of ergonomics, aesthetics and usability are prioritized to minimize barriers to use, providing users, even those with little familiarity with technology, pleasing and productive experiences.
